Death Dialogues | 2014, 8 min.
This reworking of Lucianos Death Dialogues is based upon the greek myth of Charon. The dialogues create a kafkaesque dilemma. Therefor all participants step into the fictional frame. The plot, being developed out of group processes, represents an attempt on dealing with current conflicts. Common to everybody is the demoralising state of waiting. While it directly refers to the everyday life of Damilola Adex, who is still waiting for her residence permit and Ylena Katkova, affected by the consequences of the European financial crisis.
Death Dialogues was produced within the portmanteau film How to Project and Spell comprised of 11 individual scenarios. It is the result of a collaboration between 30 students from the Athens School of Fine Art (Σχολη Καλων Τεχνων) and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Developed from shared research, workshops and discussions, this filmic experiment collides documentary, dramatic and experimental approaches, confronting the viewer with a complex configuration of inter-related themes that capture the mood of the present moment as experienced and reflected by it’s authors. The Survival Kit program was supported by DAAD.
